SharePoint and FileNet - thoughts and questions
This is a follow-on to the article by Andre de Beer where he discussed FileNet and SharePoint integration.

We've implemented the FileNet Connector for SharePoint Web Parts in a 64-bit environment - so it is possible - but they aren't fit for purpose so I'd avoid them if at all possible.

In addition we looked at the InfoSphere Content Collector for SharePoint and have it collecting content from a document library within SharePoint.  This works to a degree (although we have robustness issues with our FileNet implementation which are rapidly diminishing the user community's confidence in the solution).

My questions are with regard to the ability of SharePoint to index FileNet content:
  • Has anyone managed to get this to work correctly?
  • If so, did you have to purchase an additional license to get FileNet to index the content of files rather than just the metadata?
  • Can you recommend this approach at all?

Hi David,

Sounds great what you have done

And looked at the known issues (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=119737&clcid=0x409) and also the support information for the connector found at http://office.microsoft.com/search/redir.aspx?assetid=AM102665701033
